Montecielo Mall Reaches Structural Topping-Out on 76 Commercial Locales

The Montecielo commercial deck — the beating heart of the Cristo del Embalse complex — reached its structural topping-out this month, closing the final slab above what will become 76 commercial locales spread across three terraced levels that follow the natural fall of the hillside.

What has actually been built

Rather than a single monolithic box, the mall is a chain of stepped volumes. Each level is set back from the one below it, so every tenant on the reservoir side gets a terrace facing the water. The lowest level holds the food hall and the arrival plaza; the middle level carries the retail spine; the upper level connects directly to the eco-resort lobby.

The road to January 2027

With the structure closed, the next twelve months belong to facades, mechanical installations, and tenant fit-outs. Facade glazing starts on the reservoir elevation first, because it is the hardest to reach once the terraces are landscaped. Tenant handovers are staged so the food hall and anchor locales open on day one.

Closing the last slab is when a project stops being a construction site in people's minds and starts being a place they can imagine visiting.

Visitors arriving before the opening can still walk the Hangar exhibition, where the completed 86-meter statue head is displayed at ground level — currently the only place on earth where you can stand beneath it.
